We went through some of the objections people may have when we attempt to share with them the good news of Christ with Dr. D. James Kennedy this afternoon. I am so ready to go back to Dallas and go out there to share how people can have eternal life. The rest of the team are all as fire up as I am.

Dr. Kennedy did bring up the problem of the book of Abraham as well as the whole foundation of the Mormons faith building on the basis of pre-Columbian 1492 native Americans are of Jewish descent. Recent advances in DNA testing has proved what we have all known, that native Americans are of Asian descent.

We had 30 teams of 3 people each going out for On-The-Job training tonight, part of the Evangelism Explosion clinic. We had a total of 120 contacts and 28 people came to Christ.

I and Larry showed up at DFW airport half an hour before flight time and the automatic machine wouldn't let me check in. The lady at the counter issued me a standby boarding pass, but both I and Larry was able to get on the plane, praise God.

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, the host of the Evangelism Explosion clinic is really big, has their own K-12 school as well as their very own Knox Theological Seminary. Dr. D. James Kennedy, the church senior pastor is a great guy, who just celebrated his 75th birthday. In one of the clinic sessions, he shared with us about a conversations he had with governor Ronald Reagan of California when he ran for the presidency. Before president Reagan was to address a crowd at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, he met privately with about 20 ministers. The other ministers were asking him about every policy question conceivable, Dr. Kennedy asked for permission and went straight to the most important question of all: "Mr. Governor, if you were to stand before God today, and He asked why should he let you into heaven, what would you say?" President Reagan dropped his head between his knees momentarily and then came up with the following answer: "I don't deserve to go to heaven but for God so love the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have eteral life."

Judge Dan Wyde shot himself in the foot last night and it was all over the newspapers today. Things are so far so good for judge Vic Cunningham, my candidate of choice for the Dallas County District Attorney office.

Volunteered at judge Joe Loving re-election fundraising reception tonight before headed over to judge Dianne Jones fundraising reception at AJ Gonzales. Finally, I stopped by the Ginger Man to hangout with the Dallas County Young Republicans at tonight's happy hour before going home to pack my bag for my 7:25 am flight out to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow.

It was a very pleasant surprise this morning when the Rev. Thomas Stebbins called me and invited us to stay at his house for the week we are there in Ft. Lauderdale for the Evangelism Explosion training.

Dallas County GOP chairman Kenn George was great when he spoke at the Greater Dallas Pachyderm lunch meeting today. He sure knew how to rouse the troops for the 2006 midterm election. I believe all that energy and excitement is going to make a difference this year.

Both of my teams, the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers lost badly tonight to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks respectively. I first learned of the news that Denver was trailing Pittsburgh 3-10 after our church's youth group leadership meeting. It only got progressively worse after that to end up at 34-17. I had so many things to run and didn't even get to watch the second game.

I was out walking this morning with friends of Ricky Grunden, who is running for state representative district 63. There are four other Republicans in the race: Anne Lakusta, Bill Lawrence, Michael Savoie, Tan Parker. The Democrat knew their place and didn't field anyone.

I learned a few new things yesterday about financing your own or your kids' higher education at the Nortel provided on site seminar by Shannon M. Harris, an Ameriprise financial advisor:

1. 529 plan max contribution is $250K per account. Investment gain are tax free. Withdrawal for purposes other than higher education will be tax at income tax rate plus penalty of 10%. It's good if you already max out your $4000 per year IRA contribution limit.

2. Roth IRA can be withdrawn for higher education, taxable at your income tax rate, without the 10% penalty like 529, provided that the account has been open for at least 5 years.

From the look of yesterday special election, unless Ben Bentzin can miraculously turn out a lot more Republican voters for the run off election, Democrat Donna Howard is going to take the State Rep. District 48 seat.

Tuesday, January 17, 2006

I have decided to support and given my endorsement to Vic Cunningham for the Dallas County District Attorney race. His opponents in the March 7th Republican primary are former County Criminal Court No. 3 judge Dan Wyde and current number 2 man in the District Attorney office, Toby Shook.

I really enjoy the series of books: Honor's Pledge, Honor's Price, Honor's Quest, Honor's Disguise, and Honor's Reward by Kristen Heitzmann.

Got my Canon Powershot S70 earlier this week. It's thinner and lighter than my Canon Powershot S50, which I've had for almost three years but suddenly the flash stopped working. I am sticking to compactflash for now because I don't want to spend much more money to invest in another type of media.

I was running late to my Krav Maga class yesterday and again today. Yesterday because I got off work late; today because we were helping to spruce up White Rock Lake with congressman Pete Sessions, his legal guy Mark, and Joe, in charge of the project, Mark and Karen, two best buddies who are also Dallas County Young Republicans, and Rob the camera man.

Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Donna Winfield, candidate for Dallas County Criminal Court No. 11 had her reception this evening at the AJ Gonzales. I went to the Metrocrest Republican club monthly meeting afterward and got to listen to all the candidates there.

Attended governor Rick Perry campaign kick off today at the brand new TI facility on Renner just west of Alma. The governor was introduced by Phil Ritter, TI's Global Public Affairs head. Then a group of us, Tibor, Pamela, Elaine, Lucie, and I went to lunch at nearby Abuelo's.

Another group of us also went for a late dinner at the Desperados on Greenville after the Dallas GOP executive meeting tonight at the Radisson. I was reminded of a couple of the old sayings:

1. I'd rather be judged by 12 (grand jury) than to be carried by 6 (pallbearers).
2. A pistol in hand is better than 6 police on the phone.

I started leaning toward a certain candidate but still undecided on the district attorney race between Vic Cunningham, Dan Wyde, and Toby Shook as well as the congressional district 30 race between Amir Omar and Wilson Aurbach to unseat Democratic incumbent Eddie Bernice Johnson.

Monday, January 09, 2006

Judge Don Metcalfe had his reception today at the Historic Belo Mansion downtown today. I also went the to first 2006 meeting of the Carrollton Library Board and the Northern Dallas Pachyderm.

Sunday, January 08, 2006

I was walking and campaigning for Ricky Grunden for state rep. 63 when I saw an interesting bumper sticker: "Vegetarian is an old Indian word for a lousy hunter."

We went out for dinner and then went to see Casanova. Pretty decent movie, worth the time spent. Both Sienna Miller and Natalie Dormer were great and beautifully cast.

Friday, January 06, 2006

The loud mouth grandma Carole Keeton Rylander Strayhorn already started running TV ads explaining why she is a Republican but running for governor as an independent. It's crazy how far people would go.

Wednesday, January 04, 2006

An amazing Rose Bowl BCS Championship game tonight. Governor Rick Perry can now collect on his bet with governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California.

Monday, January 02, 2006

First day back in my Krav Maga class. It wasn't too bad even though I hadn't done any cardio for a whole week.
