Ichthyologists: a zoologist who studies fishes.
Herpetologists: a zoologist who studies reptiles and amphibians.
They have found a shark repellant: the smell of dead shark http://www.wftv.com/news/3597675/detail.html. So far, it works for three types of shark: the Caribbean reef, blacknose and lemon sharks. They have to test it with the rest. Anything help, praise God!

Got my new Tungsten E and still waiting for the hard carrying case. The migration from my old Palm 105 went without a hitch. I still couldn't figure out VersaMail though. I just wanted the cheapest thing that can synch with my Outlook. Beside that, the added benefits I have found really cool are color screen and the Palm Photo. The new address book in Palm 5.2.1 also expanded and allowed for a lot more flexibility.

Kathy, the permanent caucus chair of Senate District 8, finally returned my call this morning. Her son has been sick though.

It is a rather funny show on Fox with Paris Hilton, the spoiled heiress to the Hilton fortune. Caught a glimpse of it while having dinner tonight.

Michael Moore is presenting a screening of his Fahrenheit 9/11 tonight in Crawford, Texas, where president Bush's ranch is. Even when the president is trying to stay out of the limelight, these Democrats just won't leave him alone to a little peace and quiet of his own. Mr. Moore is going to get his Texas welcome from Republicans from all over the state. I was going to go but finally decided I am too tired to drive down there and back, a little over an hour each way, after an hour meeting at work in which I could barely keep my eyes open. I don't want to fall asleep on the highway and hit others.

I was going to walk the precinct 1717 of Dallas county for Pete Sessions after the workout today but it's been raining and raining so I went home. Yesterday, I stopped by the campaign headquarter before going to the gun range and I was joking with Anne that it would be covered whenever she wants.

Got a letter from Susan Fischer regarding the Compassion across America project today. Ed and Mickey are going to help her taking care of North Texas, coordinating with the whole Texas delegation leader Toni Anne Dashiell.

I am proud of myself for having been able to catch up on a lot of the financial bookkeeping for the church. Everything balances without much trouble, thank God!

Went to the range today with Patricia. I shot my usual 100 rounds to practice. Actually it's 110 rounds because of the ten rounds that was in the magazine already loaded.

I was then able to walk for about an hour.

Monday, July 26, 2004

I was able to walk for about two and a half hours yesterday covering precinct 1717 for Pete Sessions. Today, I walked another hour after a good workout.

The air filters I ordered online arrived today, which is pretty quick.

The battleground states: Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Michigan and West Virginia (tossup); Maine, Minnesota and Washington (Kerry leaning, a combined 25 electoral votes); North Carolina, Colorado, Louisiana, Arizona, Virginia, Arkansas and Missouri (Bush leaning, a combined 73 electoral votes). Because of population changes, if Bush just wins the states he did in 2000, he will have 278 (instead of 271 in 2000), 8 more than the 270 needed. If Kerry wins the states Gore did in 2000, he is 10 short of 270.

My family had a great time with Dennis and Linda, their son Josh and daughter-in-law Lora, their two grandson Caleb and Micah, and Linda's cousin Jane. Dennis and Linda have their business oversea so we only get to see them a couple times a year when they are back in the states. Jane is from Columbia, Moussouri down here visiting.

Buy what you need and donate to charity at the same time: http://www.wellspent.org.

The monthly radio show for VPAC went well. Also we mentioned that HR1587 passed the US House of Representatives.

I really like the tote bag given to the delegates by state senator Florence Shapiro at the state convention last month, compare to the cheap version given by senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. To be fair, senator Hutchison had to have enough for all delegates while senator Shapiro only had to have enough for the delegates of senate district 8. It comes in handy when I need to check out a whole bunch of books at the library.

Tony wrote down his little testimony giving thanks to God for drawing them near in the last few weeks, a great testimony I must say. We celebrated David's birthday today after the service. Good food and great fellowship as usual but we also got to meet a few of Uyen's friends.

Hear a great analysis of the FMA cloture vote this past week in the US Senate by Richard Land on www.ksky.com 660AM on the way driving home from Huy and Uyen's house.

Finally I am in town today and joined one of the megawalk to Pete Sessions.  Started at 0930h, signed in, got my walking materials, listened to Pete spoke for a little bit. Had a group picture with the Dallas County Young Republican club members who were there for the walk: Sarah Davis, Karen Nickerson, Shelby Ricketts .... Also met Patricia Pan face to face. Then drove to the right location, started walking the houses on the list. Cover two lists of 44+26=70 houses. Got back and signed out around 1400h.

"Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD .
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.

Book one campsite for August 5th for the upcoming team buidling canoe trip at Village Creek State Park.

Interesting Phi number: http://www.goldennumber.net/.

Our Dallas small group met again after two weeks off because half the group was going to the annual conference of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Vietnamese District. We had a great discussion and prayed for Helena since she was in a traffic accident and couldn't make it to the meeting tonight. Praise the Lord Tony and his wife finally found a house that they will close this August.

It looks like we finally will be able to get a College Republicans chapter started, first as a UTD registered student organization and then a federated chapter with the Texas Federation of College Republicans. Praise God. It's good news for us and bad news for the Dems.

I volunteer as the precinct captain for the Pete Sessions campaign and they assigned me 1717. I have been wishing I could someday get an opportunity to help unseat Martin Frost, the murderer of babies and bigger government spender but never thought the opportunity would come as soon as this election cycle. I am going to do everything that is humanly possible and may the Lord's justice be carried out.

Special forces soldiers dedicated to helping their Burmese Christian brothers: http://www.freeburmarangers.org.

The Metrocrest Republican club monthly meeting went well. Saw baby Kendall for the first time and also Lindsey since she had Kendall. Bernie Francis also showed up at the meeting for the first time in a long time. Didn't see Bob so I turned in my membership due check to Steve instead. Didn't see Bruce or Jan either. They usually are present at every meeting. The speaker was P.D. Sterling speaking about No Jones Tax for the new stadium Jerry Jones wants for the Cowboys with Dallas county residents' tax money. Why can TI put in 300 billion to build a new building in cooperation with UTD but Jerry Jones cannot when he wants a new stadium?

It's sad how those who want to play God to destroy life touting the non-existent promise of embryonic stem research while being totally silent on the delivered result of adult stem cell research. Thanks to people like senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) for pointing this out:

Sang came to our Northern Dallas Pachyderm club monthly meeting and she told me she liked it.

Had my braces wires changed and had to come back later in the day because one end of the wire was a little long and it really bothered me after lunch. The slenderization was not too bad. The aching is just normal after each wire changes and tightening.

Our family have arrived home safely from Los Angeles. We had fun checking out San Diego. We especially enjoyed the Vietnamese food there both in Orange county and San Diego. In San Diego, the Lord just let us ran upon a Vietnamese restaurant on Mira Mesa Blvd.

Finished the last membership class at Baruch HaShem today. Finished reading "Your people shall be my people" by Don Finto while on vacation and on plane on the flight back to Dallas. Almost finish with "Growing to maturity" by Daniel Juster. Need to start and finish "Our hands are stained with blood" by Michael Brown before the interview, which will be scheduled if I passed the final exam I took today. Then and only then will I become a member of Baruch HaShem.

I am going in for another appointment with my orthodontist, Dr. Ainsworth, tomorrow at 0700h. Don't know how bad it's going to be this time, since they will be performing the slenderization this time for the first time. I doubt if I will be able to eat dinner normally at the dinner and meeting of the Northern Dallas Pachyderm Club later in the day.

The idea is not new but it must actually save you money because it is featured on the Clark Howard website: http://www.cutouthunger.org.

How about watching your car while it's being repaired over the internet? It's reported that it is becoming more and more available from autoshop around the country: http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/2004/06/21.html#autowatch.

Well, I am posting from the Azusa Pacific University library public computer. Getting ready to head out the door to see what else Los Angeles has to offer. So far things have gone pretty good with this year's annual district convention.

Customer service at Nexity Bank slacked off a little bit compare to what it used to be, great and efficient. But after a couple times I called them, they've had everything corrected in the conversion of my 12-month term CD to a 24-month term CD. Their response time is still the best.
